I know for a fact that 10.5.8 server can host 10.6.x netboot images, since I've been doing that for several weeks. -- Ted August Salve Regina University On Nov 24, 2009, at 1:29 PM, Michael D Conners wrote: > The netboot server is a 10.4.11 server and not any newer. I am creating this on a 13" MacBook Pro with 10.6.2 and it will be the same one being imaged in our labs. Is this what you are referring too? I suspect that this is the standard way of handling this. Create an image on the newest Mac with the latest OS for portability of the image correct? I am using an external hard drive running 10.6.2 so I can create the disk image using Disk Utility, then converting via the Casper software. >>> >>> Mick >>> >>> On Nov 24, 2009, at 9:24 AM, Steve Wood wrote: >>> >>>> Make sure you are creating the image on a machine that is at the same OS level. So if you are creating a 10.6.2 image, you need to be doing so from a machine running 10.6.2. The owner on the casper version is admin while the others are listed as system. The group and everyone are the same however. I don't think since they are also read/write across the board on both that this is it. There must be something else happening. We have other images on the server working fine as an .nbi. I suspect it is something to do with the creation of the image more than anything. We are hosting about 15-20 images as I speak. This is simply another image we are trying to load. If I create using NetRestore helper, it works fine. We have a IP helper deployed across our subnets on our routers so it should be fine. Like I mentioned, it is working with all the other netboot images. >>>>>> >>>>>> Thanks again! >>>>>> >>>>>> Mick >>>>>> >>>>>> On Nov 23, 2009, at 2:53 PM, Ernst, Craig S. wrote: >>>>>> >>>>>>> Or you need to instruct the setup of your network which IP to look at when the system is offered an IP address.
