The Apple Dev tools (XCode) should be installed on the machine you’re making your packages on if you want to make Apple .pkg format packages.<BR>
<BR>
To speed up package builds, you can create a base image that includes xcode or an xcode package that can be applied to a clean system install before taking your initial snapshot. If you’re using the full Casper suite and you have a particular computer that you do your package builds on, you can use autorun data or a policy to reimage your package development computer and apply the xcode package.<BR>

It is only looking locally for the Dev tools, not from the External drive that I have them on already.<BR>

So I install the Dev tools to the local hard drive, the saving goes through, and the .pkg works just fine. <BR>

My question is this: Any machine that you are running as the image machine, will you need to install the Apple Dev tools on? I do not see any other way. Booting from the External is not the answer because how else will you make changes to the local machine's hard drive. Should I be looking at having the Apple Dev tools as a mounted image on that computer?<BR>
